Taking Flight
An exhibition of new paintings by Goulburn artist, Elise Bennett
The Goulburn Club
31 July – 18 October 2026
Opening event: 6pm, Friday 31 July
Elise is a local artist renowned for her photorealistic acrylic paintings of Australian birds. Her work is defined by vivid bird studies and pieces that explore the intricate beauty of Australia’s wildlife and landscapes. Painting with a highly realistic approach, Elise captures the finest details—from delicate plumage to expressive posture—bringing each subject to life on canvas. Working primarily in acrylics, she uses a wet palette along with layering and blending techniques to build depth, texture, and intricate detail throughout her work.
Elise spent her childhood roaming the paddocks and bushland of her family farm on the edge of the Shoalhaven Gorge, east of Goulburn, an experience that fostered a deep connection to nature and continues to inspire her art today. Her passion for art began in high school, though she initially painted mainly for family and friends. Her professional career began in 2023 when she entered the Goulburn Workers Club Annual Art Prize, winning First Prize. Since then, Elise has continued to showcase her work in competitions, markets, and exhibitions, earning multiple awards and recognition for her talent.
