How important is your memory? How would you tell your own story? What is the result of our past in our present?

In this exhibition, visual artist Priscila Fróes used the language of painting as a way to tell her life story — she talks about the boy who was always the last to be chosen for the school football team for being too effeminate, about her paternal grandmother’s house of worship where she was a priestess, about the boarding house for trans women in Porto Alegre where she took her clients at night, and so on. Painting is the way to remember — from painful and sad memories to good ones — everything mixes to bring meaning.

It is the way she found to talk about her life, to bring order to chaos and to find herself again. This exhibition comes from the act of remembering, painting, and arranging the present through a past that remains alive.
