🌷This exhibition explores fourteen items from the collection, made largely between 1580 and 1650.The other exhibits are embroideries, selected with natural forms in mind – flowers, herbs, vegetables, insects and animals were a popular feature of late 16th and 17th century English embroideries.
In 1925, ownership of Wollaton Hall and its surrounding parkland was transferred to Nottingham City Council and a new Museum was opened in 1926, to showcase the city’s important Natural History collections. In this 100th anniversary year of the Natural History Museum, Peapods and gillyflowers is part of the celebrations, while also acknowledging the Hall’s longer history as a family home.
