Exhibition in Focus | Colin Jack-Hinton Gallery
About this Event
The Colin Jack-Hinton Maritime Gallery is packed to the rafters with 23 traditional vessels originating from the shores of Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Fiji, Cocos and Keeling Islands. Collected between 1970 and 2010, the boats and canoes share seafaring stories intertwined with human culture and connections to northern Australia. Join MAGNT Assistant Curator of Territory History, Paige Taylor, on the Day of the Seafarer to explore the collection and consider the role seafarers play in trade and cultural exchange.
