Excursion: Family Search Library Discovery Center

Join us for a fun in-person trip to the Family Search Library Discovery Center!

FamilySearch’s mission is to help people explore their family history, cultural heritage, and connections across generations. Visitors can interact with large touchscreen monitors to discover where their ancestors lived, identify possible connections to historical or well-known figures, and learn interesting facts about the time periods in which their relatives lived. The center also offers creative experiences such as green-screen photo activities, cultural portrait stations, and audio or video recording rooms that allow participants to preserve personal stories or memories.

For the best experience, participants are encouraged to create a free account and begin a basic family tree at familysearch.org in advance, as having some family information entered allows the interactive displays to generate more personalized results.

Following the one-hour exploration of the FamilySearch Discovery Center, participants are invited to dine at the City Creek Center food court. A variety of dining options are available, and participants may wish to review them in advance at https://shopcitycreekcenter.com/dining.

Info: Meet up at the Hospitality Desk at the Salt Palace Convention Center. Walk to the Family Search Library Convention Center. Arrive at the Family Search Library by 6:00 pm. Walk time: approximately 6 minutes.

Info: Walk to the City Creek Center Food Court. Walking time: approximately 10 mins. Dine with other participants at the City Creek Center Food Court. The Food Court closes at 8:00 pm.
