Ex-Military Flyers Meet August 20thThe Fredericksburg Ex-Military Flyers meeting is slated for Wednesday, August 20th. The Ex-Military Flyers Club brings together aviation enthusiasts, many with a military background, to celebrate the camaraderie, skill, and love of flying cultivated during their service. Membership is open not only to veterans and active-duty personnel but also to any aviation enthusiasts who share their values and mission.
This month Gwen Fullbrook, owner of Crosswinds Aviation, will speak about aviation pioneer Jacob Broadbeck. According to Texas legend, on September 20, 1865 Brodbeck’s full scale aircraft lifted off the ground near Luckenbach (or perhaps in San Antonio’s San Pedro Park), becoming the first powered aircraft to fly in the world.
A meet and greet starts at 11 a.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 110 W. Austin in Fredericksburg. A buffet lunch will be served by Vivere catering at 11:30 at a cost of $25 per person. RSVP with Roger Hansen at 830-992-9205. The Ex-Military Flyers organization normally meets the third Wednesday of every month.
