Evolving Skills in the Age of AI: IN-PERSON VERSION
About this Event
Evolving Skills in the Age of AI
The developer's job is changing fast. Writing code used to be the hard part. Now the hard part is planning it, directing it, verifying it, and owning the outcome. This three-hour bootcamp is about that shift, and what it actually means for how you work.
Led by Doug Compton, Slingshot's Senior AI Developer, this is a practical, demo-forward session on using AI to build software. Not building an AI app, but using AI tools to write, ship, and govern real code. You'll watch Doug run his own workflow end to end, from context gathering and planning sessions to executing, verifying, and managing multiple agents at once.
The tools aren't the point. How you direct them is. This session is about becoming the person who runs the AI, not the person who watches it.
What you'll walk away with
- A clear picture of what's changing for developers, and what stays the same (architecture knowledge, debugging instincts, security ownership, accountability)
- Doug's real workflow: rules files, AI docs folders, planning sessions, and the "is this the cleanest solution?" check
- Prompt engineering and context management techniques you can use the same day
- How to run multiple AI agents in parallel without losing the thread
- What a solid CI/CD pipeline looks like now that AI is writing the code
- A concrete Monday-morning to-do list to put it all into practice
This is a hybrid event. You can choose to buy an in-person or virtual ticket. This ticket is for the IN-PERSON version only. In-person tickets are limited.
