John will provide an overview of current cyber liability market conditions, including ransomware trends, vendor incidents, and emerging risk areas such as artificial intelligence, business email compromise, and post‑breach litigation. Attendees will review recent cyber claim case studies affecting credit unions, highlighting drivers of loss, ransomware payment dynamics, and the growing impact of class action litigation following data breaches. The discussion will also cover practical litigation and risk‑mitigation considerations, including contractual strategies and incident response decisions that can materially influence financial outcomes.

John DeSalvo, CIC, ARM is a Partner and Senior Brokerage Client Executive at M3 Insurance. John specializes in the placement of specialty brokered products for credit unions as part of the TruStage Program.

His primary role is to place insurance for and counsel the largest credit union clients nationally about risk management strategies and insurance planning and to work with them to ensure that their coverage continues to meet their changing needs. He counsels on the placement of a variety of insurance products including, but not limited to: Workers Compensation, Management Liability, Specialty Property (Earthquake and Flood), Active Assailant, Travel Accident, International Coverage, and a special focus on Cyber Liability. John earned his Bachelor of Science in Risk Management and Insurance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He joined M3 in 2009 and transitioned to specializing in financial institutions in 2015 before joining the TruStage program team in 2017.
