Evil Dead: The Musical is a campy, comedic stage adaptation of the classic horror film franchise. It combines the plots of The Evil Dead & Evil Dead 2 into one hilarious, blood-soaked musical parody.
Auditions will be held July 20th & 21st at 6pm at the Birdcage Theatre, 1740 Bird St.
Age Limit: Performers in named roles must be 18 or older due to mature content, adult humor, and violence.
Vocal Audition: Prepare 16 to 32 bars of a contemporary rock, pop belt, or comedic musical theatre song. If you have a specific role you are interested in, prepare 16-32 bars of a song from the show.
Movement/Dance: Wear comfortable attire for a choreography call. Physical agility is highly emphasized.
Acting: Be prepared to do a cold read.
Principal Roles
Ash: Male, 20s–30s. The iconic, handsome, S-Mart housewares employee turned demon slayer. Must be charismatic, physically fearless, and capable of slapstick comedy. Vocal range: Baritone/Tenor (Rock belt).
Cheryl: Female, 20s. Ash’s odd, easily annoyed sister. She is the first to be possessed and spends much of the show trapped in a cellar rapping and cracking puns. Vocal range: Soprano/Alto (Strong belt).
Annie: Female, 20s. A hyper-competent, dramatic archaeologist seeking her father's lost pages. Often doubled with Shelly. Must command the stage. Vocal range: Mezzo-Soprano (High belt).
Linda: Female, 20s. Ash’s sweet, textbook perfect girlfriend who also works at S-Mart. Becomes a severed, talking head later in the show. Vocal range: Soprano (Sweet musical theater style).
Scotty: Male, 20s. Ash’s foul-mouthed, crude, prankster best friend. High energy and physical comedy are required. Vocal range: Baritone/Tenor.
Supporting Roles
Ed: Male, 20s–30s. Annie’s boring, submissive boyfriend who explicitly sings about being an "Extra Ordinary Guy" before turning into a demon. Vocal range: Baritone/Tenor.
Jake: Male, 30s–50s. A reliable, stereotypically gruff local trail guide who helps Annie find the cabin. Vocal range: Baritone/Tenor (Rock/Country belt).
Shelly: Female, 20s. A beautiful, airheaded girl Scotty picked up at a bar. Often doubled with Annie. Vocal range: Soprano/Alto.
