Everybody Reads is a regional program that builds a shared reading experience around a single book to foster curiosity, spark discussion and celebrate a love of story and community engagement.
Since 2000, Lewis-Clark Valley and Palouse libraries have read and discussed a wide variety of different books and welcomed the authors of those books into their communities for a shared reading experience.
Visit www.everybody-reads.org for a full schedule of events across all participating locations, discussion questions, and read-alikes.
"This America of Ours" tells the dramatic true story of how mid-20th century literary duo Bernard and Avis DeVoto fought for America's national parks and public lands, though it earned them spots on the FBI's Do Not Contact List. Schweber provides a captivating account of not only the DeVotos’ fierce conservation endeavors but also of their profound relationships with one another, as well as luminaries like Julia Child and Robert Frost.
Nate Schweber is an award-winning journalist whose work has appeared in The New York Times, Business Insider, Anthony Bourdain’s Explore Parts Unknown, and others. His conservation articles won recognition from the Outdoor Writers Association of America, and a ProPublica series he contributed to won the Pulitzer Prize for national reporting in 2020. He was born and raised in Missoula, Montana and now lives in Brooklyn, New York.
