Evergreen Brick Works Plant Swap

When you purchase a ticket to the plant swap you are automatically entered to win 1 of 3 Grove Light Bars (https://soltech.com/en-ca/products/grove-led-grow-light) from Soltech Solutions Grow Lights! Winners will be announced at the Evergreen Garden Market after the plant swap.

IMPORTANT: If you are bringing a friend/ family member who is not participating in the swap, they DO NOT need a ticket to enter the store! Only those participating in the plant swap need a ticket.

How does a plant swap work?

When you arrive, bring your plants to the Welcome Table. Our volunteers will count your plants and exchange them for sticks (a.k.a. “plant money”). For example, if you bring 5 plants/ rooted cuttings, you will recieve 5 sticks for swapping. Make sure to write your name on every stick you receive. Hold on to these until the swap starts!

The swap works in rounds:

ROUND 1: Use only 1 stick, place it in a plant you want.

After everyone has used their first stick, if the plant you want has only your stick in it, it is automatically yours!

If there is more than one stick in the plant, our volunteers will come around to do a random draw. The one they choose will win the plant and everyone else’s stick will be returned and you’ll have to immediately pick another plant that is not being contested for.

The round ends when everyone has received one plant for each stick.

What to bring to the swap?

• House plants, succulents / cacti, veggie starters / mature plants, perennials / annuals, ROOTED cuttings (even a tiny little root is good, shows that the cutting is indeed growing!)

• Clearly label your plants.

• Put your plant in a container with soil or water; wrap bare roots carefully.

• The more you bring, the more you’ll take home with you.

• Avoid bringing plants with pest infestation, unhealthy/ stressed plants or unrooted cuttings. Plants will be inspected during sign in.

• No invasive plants.

• No cannabis.

Preparing your plants for the swap:

• Put your plant in a container with soil or water; wrap bare roots carefully.

• Every plant must be clearly labeled with the plant's name, care instructions (light & watering requirements), and placement (indoor/outdoor). This will help people pick and choose which plant they want to bring home.

Schedule

2:00 pm - Sign in, drop off your plants, make some new friends, visit the Crystal Star Nursery booth to explore their botanical treasures and stroll through the Garden Market until 2:45pm.

2:45 pm - Sign in closes.

2:50 pm - Let the swap begin!

4:50 pm – Swap ends – After the swap, head over to Tiffany Commons where you will find Evergreen’s Outdoor Eats - A pop-up dining experience in the heart of the Don Valley celebrating the best of Toronto’s diverse and delicious food scene. Outdoor Eats will be on from 1:00pm - 8:00pm.

Giveaway Table

If you've got an abundance of plant related goodies, we'll also have a table set up for giving away FREE things such as:

• Gardening tools in working condition.

• Seeds (place in a a baggie or envelope, and clearly label with plant name).

• Clean Pots, trays, vases, planters.

• Plant books, art, home decor.

• Plant cuttings without roots.

• Plant apparel and accessories.
