Bio from In Praise of Golden Skies copyright 2026. "Morgan Randall began scribbling poetic verse as a personal act of healing in 1982 and, forty years later, published Dog Dreams & Other Invisible Things: Selected Prose & Poetry on her own tiny Dog Dreams Press. In 1997, one of her poems was included in the Orcas Island Library’s literary journal, Prune Alley, of which she was assistant editor, and in 2024, The Madrona Project Volume IV: The Empty Bowl Cookbook and its 2025 Volume V: Machines on Empty Bowl Press.
Motivated by dedication to spoken-word poetry as community presence, during the 1990s, she produced open mics at The Living Room and at Owl’s Bagel Deli in Eastsound, Washington, and read at various Madrona Project events in the early 2020s. Currently, she can be found sharing at Skagit Cellars Open Mic; Everett Poetry Night; the Museum of Northwest Art’s quarterly ekphrastic open mic; and FIRSTHURSDAYS Poetry Nite, the Skagit Valley open mic she produces as Dog Dreams Press.
After receiving an undergraduate degree in communications from UCLA in 1976, Randall worked for 25 years as business writer/editor in the nonprofit sector. She received a masters in applied behavioral science from Bastyr University in 2006 and continues in her second career as a private licensed mental health counselor (LMHC). She lives and works in the 15-minute walking community of historic downtown Mount Vernon, Washington (MVWA).
Randall’s poetry is inspired by the living consciousness of earthlings, hominid or otherwise, and the fine art and natural beauty of places she’s loved."
