Event Package: 2 Workshops - Wovens & Knits (Feb & March)

1. Feb 3rd: Wovens Workshop - Explore the art of weaving and how fabric structure impacts durability, breathability, and care.
2. March 3rd: Knits Workshop - Discover the beauty of knitted fabrics, their uses, and how to identify them with ease.

All Workshops are @ FABSCRAP from 6-8p.

Each workshop will start with an engaging and informational discussion about the topic, during which attendees are encouraged to start and add to their Identifying Fabric Journal (provided by FABSCRAP). Then, you will learn and practice various skills, tricks, and tips using FABSCRAP fabric. The workshop will end with communal skills and resource sharing.

Light food & refreshments provided.
FABSCRAP’s shop will be open until 6p too, come shop beforehand!

Attendees will:

• Gain a better understanding of fabric content

• Gain a better understanding of woven versus knit fabric and identification practices for various weave types
• Learn how to hand weave

• Explore the art of knitting and how fabric structure impacts sustainability, durability, breathability, and care

Overview:

Over three hands-on sessions, we’ll dive into the essentials of fabric identification - fiber, weave, & knit - helping you make informed choices whether you’re buying, swapping, repairing, or caring for your wardrobe. Perfect for anyone building a sustainable, thoughtful closet, this series will teach you skills that last a lifetime.

Directions:

The FABSCRAP warehouse is located in Building B within the Brooklyn Army Terminal (BAT), which is accessible by foot, bike/scooter, car, subway, bus, and ferry. Free indoor and outdoor bike parking is available at BAT Building B entrances (58th Street). This entrance is fully accessible. Free, secure on-site parking is available for cars at the Pier 4/NYC Ferry parking lot.
