Join us for another gentle evening walk as we stroll along the River Avon, and along the Canal from Bradford-on-Avon
About this Event

Join us for a quintessential English countryside walk, meandering along rivers and canals, through serene woodlands, and across rolling fields. Our journey begins in the historic town of Bradford-on-Avon, where a picturesque canal and river converge. We'll start by strolling along the River Avon towards Avoncliff to marvel at the impressive aqueduct. From there, we'll ascend a quaint lane before returning through enchanting woodlands. The final leg of our walk takes us along the canal, past the ancient Tithe Barn, and back to the station car park where our adventure concludes.

Distance: 5km / 3 miles

Time: 2 hours

Elevation: 85m

Grade: Complete Beginner (Find out more about our walking grades here)

Terrain: A mixture of gravel tracks, grassland, muddy trails and country lanes.

About your guide:

Hi I'm Alice, qualified mountain leader and CEO of The Adventure Girls Club. I'm passionate about reconnecting women back nature through adventure and outdoor skills. I set up the club because I didn't feel like I belonged in the outdoor community and I wanted to create a safe space for women like me to head out and enjoy the outdoors in their own way. I love meeting all the lush people who come along to our events and it's best feeling seeing everyone come away feeling more connected to nature and making connections with other like-minded women too.

Transport:

By Car: We will meet at Bradford-on-Avon Train station Car park here. Park in zone B as this is all day. The car park can fill up quickly so I'd recommend arriving early.

By train/bus: We will meet by the train station and there are direct trains from Bristol, Bath and surrounding towns. Coming from London, you can change at Westbury.

Liftshare: It would be great to liftshare as much as possible, if you can offer someone a lift please either post in the Facebook group or WhatsApp group

What to bring:

  • Any footwear that you don't mind getting muddy.
  • Snacks and/or a packed dinner
  • Water
  • Waterproofs/warm layers/hat/suncream (weather dependent)
  • Small first aid kit with personal Medic*tion
  • Any bag to put water, snacks and first aid kit in.

Consent Form:

If you are booked onto the hike please fill in one of these forms no later than the night before. You will not be allowed to partake in the hike unless you have filled out this form.

Toilets:

There are toilets at the beginning of the hike but apart from that you will have to embrace what I like to call a 'wild wee'! Luckily, the walk has a few hidden spots for this. If you need to go, just tell someone in the group and hang back for some privacy.

Safety:

I like to make these hikes as enjoyable as possible for everyone, so I keep a slow and steady pace. It's about taking in the views and being in nature, not about rushing to the finish line. Having said that, you are responsible for your own health and safety. If you are unsure as to whether you are fit to come on these hikes, please either consult your doctor or let me know your concerns.

I am a Qualified Mountain Leader and I am level 3 Outdoor First Aid trained so I will be on hand in case of an emergency.

Dogs:

Dogs are more than welcome on my hikes, however, there is livestock around and potentially other dogs, so they will need to stay on a lead for parts of it. I cannot guarantee that every stile is suitable for dogs and the hikes may have steep cliff edges which may not be suitable for dogs.

Refund Policy

Refunds will only be given if the event is cancelled. If you can no longer attend you are more than welcome to sell your ticket to someone else but please let me know if you do so.
