This summer, Portsmouth Cathedral invites you to unwind at the end of the week with a new series of Evening Organ Concerts, four Friday nights of inspiring music in the calm and beauty of the Cathedral.Book tickets
The series brings together an exceptional mix of performers, from internationally respected cathedral musicians to exciting young artists at the start of their careers. Each concert offers something different, but all share the same aim: to create an atmosphere that is welcoming, reflective and full of musical warmth.
We begin on Friday 8 May with a special guest, Ian Tracey, Organist of Liverpool Cathedral and City Organist of Liverpool. His concert marks the celebrations of Portsmouth 100, making this an evening that brings together civic pride and musical excellence.
On Friday 22 May, the focus turns closer to home as we welcome Sachin Gunga, our own Sub-Organist. This is a chance to hear the skill and musical insight he brings week by week to our worship, now shared in a concert setting.
The series continues on Friday 19 June with Michael Chamberlain, this year's Organ Scholar. His recital offers a glimpse into the future of cathedral music, showcasing the talent being nurtured here at Portsmouth.
We close on Friday 31 July with Jan Liebermann from the Mainz Conservatoire. Already gaining a strong reputation in Germany and beyond, he represents a new generation of organists making their mark on the international stage.
Whether you are a regular concert-goer or simply looking for a peaceful and uplifting way to spend a summer evening, these concerts offer a relaxed opportunity to enjoy outstanding music in one of the city's most beautiful spaces.
