Come with Drew Climie and myself on this unique adventure down the Lower Pitt River during golden hour and explore part of Widgeon Valley. Did you know that 90% of the people travelling in this valley cross the Pitt River unsafely. Here you will learn basic River Anatomy and learn valuable information about SUPing into this popular destination. We will show you how to manage this water way even in the most adverse conditions. It’s dangerous sections and its safe retreats. Learn the skills to comfortably paddle in this area without hesitation. You will learn how to cross this waterway the most effective and efficient way. Most of all safely.
This 6km leisure tour down the the Lower Pitt is very scenic along the edges of the marsh. We take several rest breaks on the water.
Then another short break to add our sup seats as we enter the loop entrance.
The relaxing lazy river ride is roughly 4.5km. Great time to take pictures at golden hour. Witness wildlife throughout our return.
We take another quick break at a gravel beach just before exiting the marsh where you can snack and stretch your legs.
Then a short paddle back and exiting the slough through a hidden opening. Then back over the crossing entrance and river crossing.
Only a handful of experienced SUPers and kayaking enthusiasts know about this area so we’re excited to be taking you on this adventure.

6km down River -
Lazy River return 4.5 km
Then channel crossing
Cost: only $30
Requirements:
- Strong Paddle skills
- SUP equipment and Safety Gear.
- Dry bag with toiletries essentials, dinner, snacks
- Min fluids of 3 litres is mandatory
Warm clothing
Fall gear attire .
Headlamp with map light feature
100 lumens min. And a secondary light.
- If your SUP is equipped with seat options this is ideal for it.
Parking: $5
Register at Canoe shop across the launch pad . Register vehicle plate. We will be meeting at the grass area just left of the day use launch pad.
