Evening in Annapolis for Child Care
Come join us for a special evening at The Governor Calvert House at Historic Inns of Annapolis to support child care initiatives, policies, and protect investments in child care. Unite in our state capitol with your colleagues in child care/ECE who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and elevating our voices to impact positive change.
Here is what you can do to prepare...Before Feb. 10, 2025-Make appointments with your legislators for Feb. 10th between 4-6 pm and then when you join us at the event on Feb. 10th in Annapolis-you will meet with legislators at the scheduled time, or visit with your legislators to let them know what is working and what is not working in child care/early childhood education.
We will provide, in the Frequently Asked Questions section, links to contact your legislators, advocacy prep info, and talking points to support you and volunteers to assist you throughout the event.
We have invited state leaders, champion legislators to speak and the media to cover the Evening in Annapolis for Child Care to highlight your important work and voice!

There is an agenda section below, however please review the timeline for the event:
4:00-6:00 pm- come check in at the Governor Calvert House to pick up your adviocacy materials including, folders/talking points, event lanyard, and candy gift to leave when YOU visit your legislators in Annapolis. Make appointments via simple email or call your legislator by locating through the link https://maryland.maps.arcgis.com. Then be escorted by our volunteers to the House and Seanate buildings for your visit with legislators. Here is a large scale map of the House and Senate buildings. Map of State Government
5:30-7:00 pm boxed dinner at the Governor Calvert House
6:15 -7:30 pm guest speakers during advocacy dinner/networking timeslot
7:30-8:00 pm -all attendees move to the state house to be recognized for child care/ECE essential workforce in the balconies of the House and Senate.
Why should you attend? Your voice matters and your legislators wnat to hear from YOU!
Talking points to share with your legislators include,but not limited to:
Child Care Scholarship issues you and your families ar experiencing and also protecting investments in the child care scholarship budget/funding;
Ensuring the Child Care Credential Program is restored and funded;
Mixed delivery of PreK and implementation of Blueprint-Pillar 1 -address barriers and equity concerns;
Tax incentives for Child Care businesses;
Decline in child care programs and workforce -Addressing workforce shortages and substitute pool;
Increasing and protecting funds for the statewide Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Programs;
Advocating for accountability, effectiveness, efficiencies of all systems impacting your business, and representation of child care stakeholders!
You will need a valid picture identification to enter the state buildings.

Parking is available at the Naval Academy Stadium with our event shuttles provided to the Governor Calvert House event and back after event is over. Additionally, numerous parking garages are within a few blocks of the event.
