Evelina London Cardiac Course 2026/27

This module aims to critically analyse the nursing care of children and young people with congenital heart disease or acquired heart disease. Through the exploration of physiology, pathophysiology and the literature, participants will explore and critically evaluate the assessment and management of patients with these conditions.

The module will provide live face to face study days and e-Learning to apply current understanding to the nursing practice from participants’ clinical areas. Participants undertaking this module are expected to be working within environments where children with cardiac conditions are being treated and managed.

This module includes 1virtual and 4 face to face study days (roughly every 3 weeks) with stimulating e-Learning and a portfolio of assessment.

The assessment for this module will be a portfolio made up of a 1200 word written critical analysis, a case presentation and a practice assessment document. The practice assessment document will help consolidate and apply learning to the practice environment.

This module does not carry any academic credits. However, should students wish to gain academic credits for this module there can speak to the lead staff member for further guidance regarding the process.

80% attendance is expected in order to pass the course.
