Maella (CZ)
Maella is a Czech alt-pop artist based in London. Blending her Slavic roots with the multicultural London scene, she started by playing underground venues and became BBC Introducing London's featured artist. Her 2022 EP Slow Burn earned her placement on Times Square as an ambassador of the month for Spotify Equal. Last single ‘Losing Game’ appeared on UK tv shows Love is Blind and Temptation Island and her track ‘Tudu Tudu Tu’ is in the Netflix show Geek Girl. Maella’s second EP will be released via AWAL in 2025. Maella is nominated for the Music Moves Europe Awards 2025.
21:30
The Pill (UK)
Spending their time on the Isle of Wight, The Pill have been creating iconic ‘jank’ punk music since 2019, and writing tunes that talk about the big issues with a fun sprinkle of satire, drawing inspiration from dire situations, like your scaffolder seeing you naked, and the woes of your hair being too blonde. The Pill consists of Lily and Lottie on vocals, guitar, and bass, and Rufus on drums.
22:50
Woomb (BG)
Woomb is a duo based between Sofia and London, featuring young singer-songwriter Hristo Yordanov and composer/producer Gueorgui Linev aka Kan Wakan. Formed after a random encounter at a house party, they found a shared love for artists like Cocteau Twins, Björk, Slowdive and Portishead. At the end of 2023 they played their first gigs and released debut single ‘Last Rays’, accompanied by a video combining Bulgarian pagan symbols, Greek mythology and biblical elements. Their debut EP is out in October 2024. Woomb is nominated for the Music Moves Europe Awards 2025.
00:10
Cardinals (IE)
Cardinals started as a joke between two sixteen-year-olds in a sleepy fishing town on the southern coast of Ireland. Now barely twenty, the six-piece from Cork are blending Ireland’s musical beating heart with a swell of contemporary frisson. Their eclectic gothic amalgam of shoegaze, Irish trad folk, and rock incorporates 60s Wall of Sound elements for a punk-inflected noise that ‘wants to be warm pop’.
01:30
Library Card (NL)
Expressive yet thoughtful, abrasive yet melodious, explosive yet introvert: Rotterdam’s Library Card are a band of contrasts. The tight-knit unit of four entirely different characters formed mid-2021, drawing inspiration from Detroit post-punks Protomartyr, cult Glaswegian art-rockers Life Without Buildings and the poetry of Anne Clark. Spearheaded by Lot van Teylingen, whose spoken word rapidly alternates between sardonic and sincere, Library Card has quickly gone from a first gig in May 2022 to supporting OSEES, playing a host of Dutch tastemaker festivals, and touring in Germany, France, Denmark and Austria.
Programm Friday 17 January:
20:10
Supersport! (IS)
Supersport! was formed in manic excitement on the dancefloor of a now-vanished Reykjavík bar on a late night a few summers ago. The artsy indie pop of Bjarni, Dagur, Hugi and Þóra is sweet and playful. Supersport! remain champions of the DIT (do-it-together) ideology, singing together, harmonising, as a way of being together, practicing friendship and solidarity, and exploring the guitar as a tool for storytelling and expressivity. Their newest, sweetly vulnerable EP is out September 27.
21:30
Indian Wells (IT)
Indian Wells is the moniker of electronic music artist Pietro Iannuzzi, from southern Italy. His work draws inspiration largely from his own cultural background, referencing elements of geographical, social and political isolation that etches across a range of technically demanding, conceptually driven and emotive electronic music. His 4th album No One Really Listens to Oscillators is released on Max Cooper’s Mesh imprint and explores the concept of “unfinished”, both in relation to oneself, art, architecture and surroundings.
22:50
Chloe Slater (UK)
Chloe Slater is a 21-year-old singer-songwriter on the rise, carving a path in the realm of independent music. Born and raised in Bournemouth, she moved to Manchester for a course at the University, found her voice in the effervescent open mic scene and has since been collaborating closely with writer/producer Jack Shute. Her 2024 debut EP, You Can’t Put A Price On Fun, encapsulates a grungy, indie-cool vibe, blending Chloe's distinctive style with meaningful lyricism. The EP explores themes of youth, identity, and the complexities of modern society.
00:10
EIHWAR (FR)
The neo-folk Vikings of Eihwar have just joined the Season of Mist label (home of Heilung and Warduna). Very soon, the duo found great success at major European festivals such as Hellfest, Wave Gotik Treffen, Rockstadt Extreme Fest, Motocultor, Leyendas del Rock, and their YouTube channel has already exploded. Eihwar produces pagan dancefloor music, brutal and festive, composed of Nordic folk sounds, ritual chants, shamanic drums and powerful electro machines. Prepare to enter the trance, with this eccentric duo from France.
01:30
MДQUIИД. (PT)
Drawing on minimalist Krautrock repetition, pounding industrial techno and EBM, Lisbon trio MAQUINA. fearlessly explore the boundaries of these genres with passion on their second album ‘PRATA’, out April 2024 on Fuzz Club. Across the six tracks, they carve out an adrenaline-fueled sound that's equally suited to dark, sweaty back rooms and the dance floor. MAQUINA. doesn’t rely on machinery, but instead embraces the raw power of live instruments, providing an electrifying groove-heavy experience that resonates with the audience.
