Join us at the Virginia Living Museum, June 27th at 2:30 PM, step into the world of rocket launches and environmental science with Spaceport Sustainability, a unique behind-the-scenes look at one of the most important launch sites in the country.
Located on Virginia’s Eastern Shore at Wallops Island, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport is one of only four public launch facilities in the United States. It has supported missions to the International Space Station and even the Moon. Now it is your turn to explore what happens beyond the launch.
You will meet a real space industry professional, Sonia Watson from the Virginia Spaceport Authority, and learn how she helps protect the environment while rockets launch into space. Then, you will put your skills to the test with a hands-on water quality simulation based on real post-launch monitoring.
You will also hear from a VSA education specialist about student opportunities and pathways into careers in space, science, and sustainability.
If you are interested in space, environmental science, or just want to try something completely different, this is your chance to learn directly from the experts and experience what it is like to work at a real spaceport.
