About this Event
Ethical Volunteer Leadership for Inclusive and Sustainable Community Action
Volunteers play a vital role in building strong, connected communities. However, creating meaningful and sustainable volunteer opportunities requires thoughtful and responsible leadership.
This training is designed for community leaders, organisers and emerging leaders who want to develop practical skills in recruiting, supporting and leading volunteers in ways that are inclusive, ethical and empowering. The session will explore how to engage community members β particularly those from migrant and marginalised backgrounds β and how to create volunteer roles that offer real value, learning opportunities and positive community impact.
Participants will gain practical insights into how to motivate and retain volunteers, provide appropriate support and supervision, and recognise volunteersβ contributions in meaningful ways. The training will also explore important issues such as power dynamics, safeguarding responsibilities and how to ensure volunteering strengthens communities rather than placing unfair expectations on individuals.
By the end of the session, participants will have a stronger understanding of how to build supportive volunteer networks that contribute to community initiatives while also helping individuals develop confidence, skills and pathways into further opportunities.
This training is part of a wider leadership programme supporting community leaders to build stronger, fairer and more resilient communities.
Facilitated by Sywia Juranek, Director of Reach For a Star.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided during the training.
