Discover the Colne Estuary with Astrex Corp
Step away from the city and immerse yourself in the natural beauty and deep-rooted history of the Essex coastline. Our flagship "Viewside" tour takes you on a 4.4-mile journey through ancient maritime towns and stunning tidal landscapes.
What to Expect
Starting at the vibrant University Quays, we follow the winding River Colne toward the historic town of Wivenhoe. After a brief hospitality break to enjoy the local atmosphere, we head into the wilder reaches of the trail, finishing at the spectacular Alresford Tidal Ford.
Highlights include:
- Maritime Heritage: Hear stories of the shipyards and smugglers that once defined the Colne.
- Expert Guidance: Our staff are trained in dynamic risk assessment and hospitality to ensure your comfort.
- Bespoke Content: Learn about the unique flora and fauna of the salt marshes.
Safety & Preparation
Due to the nature of the Essex coastline, this tour involves uneven terrain and muddy paths.
- Footwear: Sturdy walking boots are mandatory.
- Tidal Crossings: We pride ourselves on our operational safety; tours are strictly timed around the Alresford Creek tide markers to ensure safe passage.
- Fitness: A moderate level of fitness is required for this 4.4-mile trek.
