Build the foundational skills you need to confidently explore moving water by canoe. This full-day course emphasizes safety, fun, and practical technique for paddling on gentle rivers.
What to Expect
Learn the essentials of safe and effective river paddling, including:
Canoe strokes and maneuvers on flatwater and moving water
River features, hydrology, and hazard identification
Boat control, ferrying, eddy turns, peel-outs, and rescues
Safety equipment, trip planning, and group communication
Cold water safety, Leave No Trace ethics, and self-rescue techniques
Course Details
Duration: 8 hours (full-day program)
Location: Liverpool, PA (on the Susquehanna)
Who it's for: Ages 14+ recommended; minors must be accompanied by a guardian
What's included: Professional instruction, ACA course completion card (with successful participation)

Canoe
Paddle
Life jacket (PFD) with attached whistle
