Excited to discover Dublin but not sure where to start? Our Essential Free Tour Dublin is the perfect first introduction to the city.
About this Event

Discover Dublin's most important monuments and learn about Irish traditions that date back centuries. Our English-speaking guide will accompany you to share the full history of Dublin, how this cosmopolitan hub of Ireland was shaped, and which places you simply can’t miss during your trip.

Our tour begins at Barnardo Square, next to City Hall, and takes us to the two most important Christian temples in Dublin: Christ Church Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the largest church in the city.

We’ll know the magnificent Ha’penny Bridge, 43 meters long and once famous for the countless padlocks placed by Dublin couples to symbolize their love. It’s now forbidden — so don’t be tempted to add your own or you might get fined!

Because of the River Liffey, which runs through much of Dublin, the city is full of bridges. We’ll also stroll across O’Connell Bridge, the only bridge in Europe that is wider than it is long, leading directly onto O’Connell Street.

Other highlights include Dublin Castle and its beautiful gardens — the seat of British government in Ireland until 1922 — as well as City Hall and the charismatic Temple Bar district. We’ll also pass by The Clarence Hotel, owned by U2, and Trinity College, the oldest university in Ireland.

Alongside exploring the city, we’ll share the most important Irish traditions, along with fascinating myths and legends. We’ll also travel back in time to discover the key moments that shaped Dublin’s history, from the arrival of the Vikings to nearly 800 years of English rule.
