Współczesny świat stawia przed państwami nowe wyzwania, którym trudno sprostać w pojedynkę – globalne kryzysy gospodarcze, pandemie, wyzwania klimatyczne, rosnąca rola gigantów prywatnych w kształtowaniu polityki i prawa. W tym kontekście pojęcie suwerenności państwowej wymaga przemyślenia na nowo. 🎓 Kto może wziąć udział? Doktoranci oraz osoby posiadające stopień doktora z Polski, Czech, Węgier i Słowacji, pod warunkiem że od obrony doktoratu nie minęło więcej niż 5 lat.
✍ Temat „Suwerenność państwa wobec nowych wyzwań transnarodowych" – czekamy na oryginalne eseje o charakterze argumentacyjnym, zawierające jasno sformułowaną tezę, jej uzasadnienie oraz odniesienia do rzeczywistości prawnej i społecznej.
📚 Wymogi formalne
• Maksymalnie 3000 słów (bez bibliografii)
• Times New Roman, 12 pkt, interlinia 1,5, marginesy 2,5 cm, numeracja stron
• Format DOC/DOCX, język angielski
• Jedno zgłoszenie na uczestnika, wraz z wymaganymi podpisanymi oświadczeniami
📆 Termin Zgłoszenia należy przesyłać do 1 listopada 2026 r. na adres: [email protected].
Wyróżnione prace zostaną poddane redakcji i opublikowane w otwartym dostępie jako ECBU Working Paper. Zwycięzcy zostaną również zaproszeni do zaprezentowania swoich badań podczas krótkiego webinarium.

🇬🇧 Essay Competition for Young Scholars: “State Sovereignty in the Face of New Transnational Challenges”
The modern world presents states with new challenges that are difficult to face alone – global economic crises, pandemics, climate challenges, and the growing role of private giants in shaping policy and law. In this context, the concept of state sovereignty needs to be rethought. We invite young researchers to join this discussion and share their thoughts as part of an essay contest organized by the European Center for Constitutional Studies at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Łódź!
🎓 Who can participate? PhD students and individuals up to 5 years after defending their PhD from Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia
✍ Topic: “State Sovereignty in the Face of New Transnational Challenges” – we are looking for original, argumentative essays containing a clearly formulated thesis, its justification, and references to the legal and social reality.
📚 Formal Requirements
• Maximum of 3,000 words (excluding the bibliography)
• Times New Roman, 12-point font, 1.5 line spacing, 2.5 cm margins, page numbers
• DOC/DOCX format, in English
• One submission per participant, along with the required signed declarations
📆 Submissions must be sent by November 1, 2026, to: [email protected].
Selected papers will be edited and published as open-access ECBU Working Papers. Winners will also be invited to present their research during a short webinar.
💵 Three cash prizes of 1,000 euros gross each await the winners.
