About this Event

The ESRC Festival of Social Science returns to Manchester from Saturday, 17 October to 7 November 2026. The University of Manchester will host a series of free events showcasing the best of social science research.

This year also commemorates 10 years of our partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Salford. For this launch event, please join us to celebrate and explore the impact social sciences have on the city around us.

This year’s theme, Money, Finance, and the Cost of Living, examines how people approach financial giving, money habits, and behaviours today. This is only one aspect of a lively program created for everyone: families, schoolchildren, researchers, professionals, and the general public.
