Experience Espresso Editions, a monthly conversation series hosted by EXILE Projects and Books & Books in Coral Gables. This intimate, coffee-fueled gathering celebrates the creativity and resilience of South Florida’s artist publication scene, highlighting bookmaking as both an art form and a powerful tool for advocacy.
Our second featured speaker is Barbara London, whose groundbreaking career has shaped the global landscape of media, installation, and sound art. Moderated by Amanda Keeley, founder of EXILE Projects, this discussion invites the community to explore the intersections of art, publishing, and cultural innovation.

About Barbara London:Barbara London is an internationally acclaimed curator, writer, and advocate for the arts. She founded the video exhibition and collection programs at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), where she organized iconic exhibitions such as Soundings: A Contemporary Score and Looking at Music. Her innovative projects include integrating the internet into curatorial practice with Stir-fry (1994) and Internyet (1998). London has also championed media artists such as Laurie Anderson, Nam June Paik, and Sondra Perry, and has curated groundbreaking exhibitions like Perpetual Motion (Pérez Art Museum Miami, 2024).
London is also the host of the acclaimed podcast Barbara London Calling, which enters its third and final season on January 8, 2025. This season features 11 conversations with pioneering and up-and-coming artists from around the world, delving into what motivates and inspires them, the technologies shaping their practices, and their unique perspectives as artists at the forefront of creativity and innovation. The series offers listeners an intimate glimpse into the world of contemporary art, as if eavesdropping on candid conversations between artist and curator.
A prolific writer, London is the author of Video Art: The First Fifty Years (Phaidon, 2020/2024). She has taught at Columbia University’s Sound Art Department and Yale University’s Graduate Art Department, further solidifying her legacy as a pivotal figure in contemporary art.
