Event Description:
Dear audience,
I am excited to share with you the release of my latest book, "Intern! Life on the Ward of a Public Hospital: 1973." This gripping narrative takes you on a journey through the eyes of a young doctor navigating the challenging world of medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital, in 1973.
Step into a raw and heartfelt account that offers profound insights into the realities of healthcare, the ethics of "learning on the poor," and the enduring power of compassion. Through vivid storytelling and honest reflections, this book sheds light on the transformative experiences that shape the lives of both doctors and patients.
As you delve into the pages, you'll discover an inspiring story that will move and enlighten you, prompting you to reflect on the complexities of the human experience and the vital role of empathy in the medical profession. You will also gain a perspective on medical training, then and now. The book also serves as a primary source of the history of healthcare in Miami -Dade County a half-century ago!
Thank you for your support and for being a part of this journey. I hope this book resonates with you and serves as a reminder of the incredible impact we can have on each other's lives.
All proceeds of the book will go to support Project Medishare and the Global Institute of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Fond Regards,
Dr. Arthur Fournier
