East Shore Park Club is thrilled to present our own Bluegrass Battle of the Bands!Featuring two of Ohio's top original bluegrass bands in one show - Lea Marra & the River Boys, and Sugar Mules.
About the bands:
Lea Marra & the River Boys started out in 2019 as an electric folk/pop/alt septet called Lea Marra & the Dream Catchers. Within a few years, the Dream Catchers evolved into a string band, which currently includes mandolin, banjo, upright bass, and three part harmonies at times. The Dream Catchers adopted the genre name, “Porch Folk”.
Due to many changes of the line up of the band and the sound of the music, Marra decided to change the name of the band to Lea Marra & The River Boys in 2023. LM&tRB are a bluegrass/folk band inspired by a vast array of genres across the board. Lea brings her strong vocals and heartfelt lyrics to the experience while the River Boys are in the whirlwind of grassy licks. Lea Marra & The River Boys have accomplished a lot in the year of 2024. They released their first album titled Ace Of Cups in March 2024, performed on many notable stages along side regional and local heroes.
The River Boys are: Joe Haugh- Mandolin; Spencer Paul- Upright Bass/Vox; Chase Franklin- Banjo/ Vox; Forrest Britt- Fiddle.
The Sugar Mules are a Cleveland-based bluegrass band on a mission to find that sweet spot between tradition and innovation. The Mules fuse high-energy performances with thoughtful songwriting, blending traditional and progressive bluegrass with the raw spirit of Americana, tinges of country, and occasional all-out jams. Whether you’re a deep listener or just someone who likes to dance, there’s something in their music that grabs hold and doesn’t let go.
Born out of backyard jams in that strange summer of 2020, the band quickly turned sweat and strings into something bigger. Now a musical powerhouse, they feature guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, Dobro, and bass, with multiple vocalists who weave harmonies as naturally as breathing. Over time, they’ve built a loyal fanbase across Northeast Ohio and beyond, lighting up stages at festivals like Grassfire and Tri-State, and venues including the Beachland Ballroom and Cleveland House of Blues.
The Sugar Mules have released eight singles to date, each one a snapshot of their evolving sound. Their live shows are where it all comes alive—full of ripping solos, sweet harmonies, extended jams, and the kind of spontaneous moments that remind you why live music matters.
Sugar Mules are:
Eric Mule - lead guitar, songs and singing;
Jamie Mule - Dobro, songs and singing;
Wyatt Mule - Fiddle, songs and singing;
Chris Mule - Mandolin, Banjo, songs and singing;
Connor Mule - lead guitar, songs and singing.
As usual, the ESPC Summer concerts are free and open to the public. Of course, it costs a LOT of money to bring you talented acts such as these, so we kindly ask for cash donations during the break between sets. We also take Venmo, CashApp, and PayPal for your convenience. Every dollar goes to the production of these events - we are an all-volunteer organization.
Weather permitting, there will be food vendors on site, or you may bring your own food and beverages. And lawnchairs! In the event of poor weather, the show will move inside the clubhouse.
