August 14-15: Hi Neighbour Day Festival
A FREE family event!
The Hi Neighbour Day Festival is a beloved annual tradition in the small, eclectic community of Errington, BC, held over the third weekend in August. First launched in 1969 to raise funds for the upkeep of the historic Errington War Memorial Hall, it has grown into a vibrant two-day family-friendly festival that captures the town’s quirky, grassroots spirit.
PROGRAM
The weekend kicks off on Friday with an evening of free live music and local food trucks in the park, with many more activities on Saturday. This year we will have 2 groups performing on the outdoor stage: Kuja Collective from the Okanagan and String Fever from Nanaimo.
HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
Pancake Breakfast: A community staple featuring locally sourced sausages from Errington's Country Butcher. The cost of the breakfast is family friendly.
Parade: Described as "small but cute," this parade features local residents, kids, and handmade floats winding through the heart of the village.
Zucchini Races: Perhaps the most famous event, where participants "race" decorated, wheeled zucchinis down a steep ramp, it’s as chaotic and fun as it sounds!
Farmers' Market & Free Corn: The regular Saturday market expands for the day, featuring free corn on the cob donated by Silver Meadows Farm and plenty of kid-friendly activities including face painting.
Art Show in the Old Fire Hall showcases local artisans.
It's a true "old-fashioned" community event that brings together locals and visitors for music, crafts, and a celebration of rural life.
