With the publication of The Sun Also Rises in 1926, Ernest Hemingway began the movement known as the “Lost Generation.” This movement often depicted a writer’s experiences in World War I and the years surrounding the conflict. The stories often involved the decadent and reckless lifestyles of the wealthy. Fellow writers of the movement included: T. S. Eliot, William Faulkner, C. S. Lewis, Edna St. Vincent Millay and F. Scott Fitzgerald. During this program we will discuss many of Hemingway’s most important and inspiring works. Participants will get a glimpse into one of the most endearing literary minds of the 20th-century. This program will also include a discussion of Hemingway’s life achievements and literary awards, with a viewing of some clips from some of his best-known film adaptations.
This program is free and intended for teens and adults. No registration is required.
