“The emblematic jazz & beyond trumpeter opens… the milestone 45th season of the venue”!
          It is most certain that music knows no boundaries and that is even more obvious with certain jazz artists. The French-Swiss trumpeter Erik Truffaz - who first appeared in Greece and the Half Note with his quintet some 27 years ago(!) - has established himself as one of the world's leading musicians who have put into practice exactly this no boundaries perspective in music. Erik Truffaz - a true star of the historic Blue Note Records – returns to Athens with his original quartet to give us an overall example of his musical achievements opening beautifully the milestone 45th season (!) of the city’s oldest and most prestigious jazz venue.
         Coming from a musical family young Erik was swept away when he first heard “Kind of Blue” by Miles Davis and the trumpet legend’s sound got him inspired to pursue a professional musician’s career. He started to shine since the beginning of the 90’s and in the year 2000 he signed with the famous Blue Note Records while his records started to become best sellers! The versatile artist after his 2nd album on Blue Note expanded his activity beyond concerts since he engaged himself in making music for theater cinema ballet made symphonic music but also produced a great deal of electronic music too. His musical style moved away from pure jazz or labels such as nu jazz acid fusion ambient or Post Bop and approached music styles such as Indian Sufi African rock itself hip hop with an electronic touch or simply styles driven by the voice! Tours around the world and appearances in major Festivals is in store for the multitalented artist. With more than 25 personal albums record sales reaching or exceeding a million records and dozens of notable collaborations Erik Truffaz has established himself as one of the leading personalities of contemporary European music and culture in general.
         In his concerts in Athens that open the Half Note Jazz Club’s program for a period of 25’ - 26’ Truffaz is accompanied by his amazing original quartet consisting of the incomparable bassist and music producer Marcello Giuliani who’s collaborated with artists like Jane Birkin St. Eicher Françoise Hardy among others but also with many jazz players. He is an historical member of Truffaz’s band since he has been Erik’s musical companion for 33 years and responsible for his sound! The very special pianist and keyboard player Alexis Anérilles a long-time collaborator of Sophie Hunger and the wonderful drummer Raphael Chassin are standard members of maestro-Truffaz’s band in the recent years. With this line up along other musicians they recorded Erik Truffaz’s latest and very successful albums “Rollin’” and “Clap” compositions from which they are likely to play in the forthcoming concerts in Athens.
           The Half Note with its intimate atmosphere celebrates 45 years of presenting the world's finest jazz blues and all kinds of creative music artists! Starting on October 10th until the 14th the iconic Erik Truffaz Quartet will return to their favorite stage in the city opening a milestone season with their inventive sounds. Not to be missed …………….
