100 years ago at the 1924 Paris Olympics Eric Liddell took a stand for his faith and for the Lord by not competing in the 100metres race on the Lord's Day. On this day in 1924 he stepped up to the line for the 400metres race. That morning someone had handed him a small slip of paper and upon reading he found the message, "In the old book it says: 'He that honours me I will honour.' Wishing you the best of success always." Inspired by his faith, this quote and the will to succeed he ran the entire race as a sprint and won in a record time. His stand for his faith and the sanctity of the Lordโs Day should never be forgotten and we should inform all young people about Eric on this centenary.
Eric went as a missionary to China and died in a Japanese prisoner camp in 1945.
Like our event, post photos, quotes and details about Eric on 11th July.
