About this Event
Equally Yoked is a Metro Detroit-based group seeking to create spaces for practicing Christians who are single in southeast Michigan to meet and connect in-person as well as foster relationships in accordance with 2 Corinthians 4:16.
Wish church had a place for singles? Looking to meet other local, professing single believers in person? Sick of dating apps? Want to skip the awkwardness of approaching a stranger at random? Looking for intentionality and investment?
Equally Yoked Christian Speed Dating is your answer! Speed dating entails a series of brief back-to-back conversations to decide with whom to march. Contact information (email address) will be shared when two people both agree to match. Participants do not have to be from a particular denomination or church, but should be involved in and regularly attending a church.
NEW for this event is we are embracing Michigan's summer weather and doing outdoor walk-and-talk speed dating at local park in Wyandotte. Please note the location listed in this event is the town hall and is NOT where we'll be meeting. You will receive the park location after registering.
Participants will be able to roam the green space and walk along the beautiful Detroit riverfront for the duration of each of their six-minute conversations. There also is plenty of bench space. A smartphone will be required for participation.
In the event of rain or inclement weather, we will reschedule for Saturday, August 8. Please plan accordingly.
Event includes:
- Seven to 14 one-on-one six-minute conversations (because 2 Corinthians 6:14!)
- Park views and Detroit River scenery
- Next-day match results

- Afterparty to continue conversations at a local establishment
- Event earnings support the creation of a 501c3 nonprofit for Equally Yoked to continue hosting events like this one for Christian singles in southeast Michigan!

NOON SESSION AGE BRACKETS
Session will start at noon and run up to 2:30 p.m.

THREE O'CLOCK SESSION AGE BRACKETS
Session will start at 3 p.m. and run up to 5:30 p.m.
- 21-35
- 40-55
For now, you may only register for one age bracket. Please note that younger women and older men tend to be more successful in their respective age brackets.
How Walk-and-Talk Speed Dating Works
Come prepared for an outdoor event that involves walking on a hot summer day. Please dress accordingly and modestly, and bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and comfortable shoes.
We will meet at the park whose information you will receive after registering. Prior to arrival, you also will receive instructions to download an app that allows for remote vibration of your smart phone (iOS and Android are both acceptable). This will be used to give warnings on your time. A WiFi hotspot will be available for those who need it. Upon check-in, a legal photo I.D. will be required.
When speed dating begins, each woman will be given a number and respective home base cone or flag where she will stand to greet her date. Each man will receive a number at which to start and greet the woman at that numbered cone or flag.
The couple is free to roam the park for the duration of the six minutes as they chat. Their phones will be sent vibrations via the downloaded app at intervals communicating when it is time to walk back to home base. A hotspot will be available, if needed.
Following the six minutes, the woman will return to her home base, and the man will proceed to greet the next woman. This process will continue until every man and woman have spoken to each other in their age bracket.
A Note on Parking
Parking is free, but is limited in availability immediately at the park. There is additional parking in downtown Wyandotte, but will be a walk of a couple of blocks. Please arrive early in anticipation of finding parking so that we can start on-time. If you are more than 15 minutes late to the park, you may forfeit your participation without refund.
Bathrooms and a concession stand are available on-site.
