Equally Yoked Christian Singles Beach Day | Brighton

Equally Yoked is a Metro Detroit-based group seeking to create spaces for practicing Christians who are single in southeast Michigan to meet and connect in-person as well as foster relationships in accordance with 2 Corinthians 4:16.

Join other Christian singles for some fun in the sun with the Son (aka Jesus)! We are going to have a day at the beach on Saturday, July 11 at a lake in Brighton from noon to 3 p.m. Bring a picnic lunch and your swimsuit, and let's have a fun afternoon of fellowship.

Please note the event location listed on this Eventbrite is NOT correct. You will receive via email the exact location of the park in Brighton where the event is being held one week before the event. A Michigan State Recreation Pass is required for entrance of the location. You may have purchased the pass when you registered your car with the state, or you can purchase one for $16.

Otherwise, there is not a direct cost to participate, but we do ask attendees each donate a single unopened bottle of water for the Baldwin Center, a Christian-founded nonprofit in Pontiac that runs a soup kitchen/food distribution center. You will check-in with the event host with a legal photo I.D.

Participation in this fellowship event is not limited to a specific age range. You are not required to be a member of a particular church or denomination, though we ask attendees are a part of a church to be plugged into a faith community.

Because of the mixed nature of Christian practices in the event, we ask that attendees consider modesty in their appearance at the event. We ask that both men and women have their chest and stomach covered such as by a T-shirt, tank top, full swim shirt/tankini, or one-piece bathing suit.

The park has plenty of picnic tables, a beach with water access, and rentable kayaks. There are bathrooms and changing rooms on-site, and free parking near the beach access. There is not a lifeguard on duty at the beach.

Don't forget to bring a water bottle for yourself to stay hydrated, sunscreen, and sunglasses or a hat, if needed.

We ask that all participants demonstrate the Christian virtues of kindness, respect, and grace when interacting with others.

About The Baldwin Center

The Baldwin Center was created as an outreach program of the Baldwin Avenue United Methodist Church in response to increasing poverty in the neighborhood. The congregation opened the center’s doors to provide food and recreation to children in June 1981. The Family Soup Kitchen, tutoring services and a shelter soon followed and the programs offered at the church grew from there. In 2006, the congregation moved to Grace and Peace Community Church, and The Baldwin Center continued offering human service programs as an independent 501(c)(3).
