We open our new season with Epic Horizons – a bold and dramatic concert that sets the tone for an exciting year ahead. Join the Huddersfield Philharmonic Orchestra as we launch into sweeping soundscapes, heroic tales, and richly Romantic music.✨ Programme includes:
🎭 Berlioz – Overture: Benvenuto Cellini
An exuberant and fiery overture full of flair, colour and operatic drama from one of classical music’s most imaginative storytellers.
⚔️ Khachaturian – Spartacus: Suite No. 2
Full of passion, nobility, and unforgettable melodies – including the stirring Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia, famously used as the theme to the 1970s TV series The Onedin Line.
🎼 Tchaikovsky – Symphony No. 3 (“Polish”)
Elegant, expansive and deeply expressive – the only Tchaikovsky symphony in a major key and the only one in five movements. We perform it almost exactly 150 years after its Moscow premiere, celebrating its historic significance and enduring power.
