EP Release Kiala & The Afroblaster
Kiala & the Afroblaster is a [10-piece afrobeat band](https://kiala-afroblaster.com/) by Kiala Nzavotunga and Afrogrooves, an Amsterdam-based musicians collective with a passion for Afrobeat music. The band brings a modern take on the vintage Afrobeat sound, full of tight percussion and horn lines, bluesy guitar riffs and powerful lyrics.
Kiala was born in Angola, grew up in Congo and built a musical career in Nigeria as a guitarist in Fela Kuti's band Egypt 80. After the adventure with Fela, he moved to Paris where he played in various bands. In 2018 he travelled to Amsterdam and met fellow Afrobeat enthusiasts at a jam session. Mutual admiration for this music led to camaraderie and immediate musical chemistry. Key members of the Afrogrooves collective thus became Kiala's band.
In 2023 the band recorded new music, the EP *Spiritual Power*, which is set to be released during 2024. *Spiritual Power* builds on the band's classic Afrobeat sound with an injection of powerful hip-hop and funk influences.
