Environmental Portraiture with Fritz Liedtke

On-location portrait photography creates stunning images of people in all kinds of locations, from Bangladesh to your own back yard. But it also creates its own challenges, such as how and when to work with natural and artificial lights, how to select and best use a location, and how to pose (or not pose) your subject to create the most powerful image possible.

In this class we will be working with models, natural and artificial lighting techniques, small portable speedlight flashes, composition, and more. We’ll be photographing on location in NW Portland, where Fritz will demonstrate techniques for creating beautifully composed and lit location portraits, and students will have plenty of time to create their own images, with instructor oversight.

All types of camera and lighting equipment are welcome. Attendees should have knowledge on basic exposure techniques, as well as ISO, Shutter Speed, and Aputure. The second part of this class will be a Zoom meeting, where Fritz will review your work, and give feedback on how to continue to strengthen your practice. It will be fun, educational, and you’ll come away with confidence in your technique, and some beautiful images to show for it! The date and time for this follow up portion will be shared with attendees as we get closer to the workshop date.
