Join South Bank Starters, London South Bank University's enterprise team, and the Division of Midwifery during Global Entrepreneurship Week to explore how entrepreneurial thinking can transform midwifery education and practice. Discover the powerful impact of combining midwifery knowledge with entrepreneurial skills – enhancing careers, advancing healthcare, and inspiring the next generation of leaders, advocates, and innovators.
Attend Enterprising Minds - A Spotlight on Innovation in Midwifery at LSBU and:
- Recognise entrepreneurship at London South Bank University and what an entrepreneur looks like.
- Learn about the amazing inclusion of entrepreneurship within midwifery academia at London South Bank University by Dr Sarah Church, PhD, MSc, RGN, RM, HECert (Research), PgDip Education, PGCert Research Degree Supervision, SFHEA, FEEUK.
- Dive into the practice of entrepreneurship for student and practising midwives - from business owners to participating in the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme (NHS CEP) by Gemma Poole, founder of The Essential Baby Company, registered midwife, and award-winning college lecturer.
The event's centrepiece will be the presentation of the Certificate of Enterprise to London South Bank University Midwifery Pg Diploma and BSc (Hons) graduates.
Speakers:
- Gemma Pool is a registered midwife, award-winning lecturer, NHS Core20 Ambassador, and changemaker dedicated to reducing race-based health inequalities in maternity care. In addition to founding ventures The Essential Baby Company Ltd and The Essential Baby Co in the Community CIC, she develops inclusive tools and initiatives, like the haPPIE® programme, to empower Black and brown skin communities and healthcare professionals, fostering safer pregnancies and healthier outcomes.
