Enslaved African Landing Day
About this Event
As the kick off event of African Landing Commemoration Week, Enslaved African Landing Day is the traditional and long standing commemoration that and recognizes the resiliencce and legacy of the frist Africans brought against their will to Point Comfort in August of 1619. The event features Afrcian Drumming and Dancing, speakers, a bell ringing and flower petal ceremony, community exhibits, and food and merchandise vendors.
The event is free and open to the public. Registration is requested but not required but will provide you event updates and communications.
