Ensemble Q with Ed le Brocq - from Mozart to Leunig
Witness the power of Ensemble Q Australia in Toowoomba for just one night as part of their national tour.
Hailed by Limelight magazine as “Australia’s top echelon of musicians,” Ensemble Q Australia launches its 2026 National Tour with a vibrant mix of beloved classics and compelling new Australian narrated works.
Featuring ABC Classic presenter and writer Ed le Brocq, the program unveils a newly commissioned work by Anne Cawrse, inspired by le Brocq’s deeply moving story Sonam & the Silence, a meditation on the transformative power of music. In a similar spirit, le Brocq gives voice to Michael Leunig’s whimsical imagination in Calvin Bowman’s Curly Pyjama Letters.
As a special treat for Toowoomba families and audiences, Ensemble Q has invited Toowoomba-born star bass player Oliver Murphy to perform alongside these incredible players in Bottesini's String Quintet. And to close the program, they will perform Mozart’s much-loved Clarinet Quintet, featuring internationally acclaimed clarinetist Paul Dean.
This event is the perfect family outing with a 5pm start, beautiful music, lots of storytelling and a very proud moment for Toowoomba!
Ensemble Q will also be providing an extensive range of free workshops on Friday and Saturday at Centenary Heights State High School as part of their dedication to the next generation of musicians and music lovers.
This tour is proudly supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
