Enhanced supportive care for older patients with cancer

The GO ReViTALISE initiative, in partnership with the John Richards Centre for Rural Ageing Research and Border Medical Oncology and Haematology, and supported by the Care Economy Research Institute look forward to welcoming Professor William Dale for a conversation on enhanced supportive care for older adults with cancer.

SPEAKER

Professor William Dale, a renowned geriatrician and board-certified palliative care physician, holds the George Tsai Family Chair at City of Hope National Medical Centre in California.

With expertise in both geriatrics and palliative care medicine, his work focuses on advancing cancer care through innovative models and quality-of-life research.

William has authored over 200 publications, received continuous NIH funding, and was honoured with the 2024 ASCO B.J. Kennedy Geriatric Oncology Award in recognition of his leadership in cancer and aging, supportive care medicine, cancer survivorship, and medical decision-making.

FACILITATOR

Professor Christopher Steer is a medical oncologist at Border Medical Oncology, Adjunct Professor at the John Richards Centre for Rural Ageing Research, Associate Professor at the University of NSW and co-lead of the GO ReviTALISE initiative.

Christopher specialises in geriatric oncology, focusing on improving cancer care for older adults through research, policy, and advocacy.

SESSION CHAIR

Professor Irene Blackberry is the John Richards Chair, Director of the Care Economy Research Institute and, co-lead of the GO ReViTALISE initiative.

Irene researches complex care in healthcare, aged care, and informal care, focusing on innovative, sustainable models that improve access and build community capacity.
