JANUARY PRESENTATIONOur next talk is NEXT Monday, 11th January 2026 at 2pm at The Coliseum.
Please note the winter schedule afternoon start time of 2pm.
Endeavour’s Journey from Whitby to the World and Back Again.
A fascinating talk given by Clair Stones (Captain Cook's Memorial Museum) exploring the remarkable story of HM Bark Endeavour – from its construction in Whitby’s shipyards to the building of Australia’s magnificent replica- and the ambitious campaign to bring it home in 2028. The plans are gathering momentum to bring the replica back to Whitby for the Cook 300 celebrations in 2028 and be a flagship to mark the 300th anniversary of the birth of Captain James Cook.
The talk is designed to appeal to anyone interested in maritime history, Whitby’s heritage and the town’s future. Whether you’re a longtime resident, a Cook enthusiast, a student or simply curious about one of history’s most famous ships all are invited to attend.
Refreshments will be available at the break and the raffle drawn at the end of the session. Members and guests both welcome.
