About this Event

The Vanderburgh County Fire Dept. Hybrid EMT Course is the perfect option for students looking to jumpstart thier career through flexible online coursework and real-world, hands-on training experience from passionate VCFD EMS educators.

Our hybrid course will meet in-person for a class kickoff day on Monday 8/3/26 from 6pm-10pm. Weekly engagement sessions will meet VIRTUALLY on Monday nights from 6pm-9pm, and class will meet IN-PERSON on Wednesday nights from 6pm-10pm for skills training, starting on 8/5/26. All other course content is online and self-paced. Final in-person class session is scheduled for 1/6/27, with a tentative state skills testing date of 1/9/27. (In-person classes are held at VCFD Station #1, located at 1540 E. Baseline Rd.)

Syllabus and schedule are subject to change as needed at Course Coordinator's discretion to meet the needs of course administration.

IDHS EMT Course # - EMT1014

Prerequisites:

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Must be able to provide vaccination records
  • Must be able to pass standard background test & drug screen
  • Must have current Americn Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider CPR certification (IDHS does not recognize Red Cross CPR or similar.)

(VCFD will be hosting a free BLS Provider class on Saturday, 8/1/26 for any students who need CPR certification.)



Tuition & Payment Information:

Arrangements for tuition are set forth by the Office of the Trustee of Scott Township.

Registration & Deposit

  • Course tuition is $1,100 (includes registration fee).
  • After you register, a payment link for the $250 registration fee will be emailed to you by the Scott Township Trustee's Office (), and payment is due upon reciept. Registration payment (or arrangements) must be completed by August 3rd, 2026 to continue in the course.
  • Registration fee is deducted from the course total, and financial responsibility agreement form(s) for the remaining $850 tuition fee must be signed at the first class session on 8/3/26.

Payment Plan Options

  • Tuition can be divided into multiple payments if agreements are made prior to the start of the first class (8/3/26). Payment schedule will we determined by the Scott Township Trustee's Office at the initial class session.

What’s Included

  • Tuition, textbook/e-book, ID badge, class materials, polo shirt for clinicals.

What You Provide

  • Students are required to supply the rest of the clinical uniform: navy pants, black boots, and a black belt.
  • These items are not required by the start of classes - more info about these will be shared at the inital course session.

Notes

  • Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) is currently covering the cost associated with your initial attempt of the NREMT exam. (Additional testing attempts are approximately $100 each.)
