Empowerment: Legal Summit

At CrescentCare Legal Services, we know that legal stability impacts health. Illegal evictions, past charges, discrimination, and other legal issues put a person’s viral suppression at risk. Our legal office in Baton Rouge provides effective services, drawing on decades in practice for people living with HIV.

Empowerment: Legal Summit for clients and caseworkers on February 20th at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center will gather clients, legal advocates, providers, and community members to increase access to legal resources and services.

This one day event will provide information sessions on public benefits and advocacy for clients and case managers, followed by a legal clinic Q&A session for clients needing help with basic legal issues, wills and powers of attorney, and name and gender marker changes.

Attending social workers are invited to participate in continuing education sessions (for 3 general, in person CEUs) on spotting legal issues and facilitating client access to benefits and legal services.
