About this Event
Empowering Our Sacred Relations is a 8-week Indigenous women’s empowerment program designed for Female Identifying Indigenous students at Bow Valley College. Rooted in traditional knowledge, ceremony, and community, the program fosters personal growth, cultural reconnection, and leadership development. Through weekly gatherings that include teachings from Elders, land-based learning, cultural experiences, and speaking opportunities, participants will strengthen their identities, build community, and reclaim their roles as leaders and knowledge holders. The program creates a safe and empowering space where Indigenous women can share stories, heal together, and celebrate their voices with pride and purpose.
Goals:
- Empower and reconnect Indigenous women to their Indigenous Identity through ceremony, culture, and traditional knowledge
- Foster a strong sense of identity, pride, and belonging
- Support sisterhood and peer community
- Develop confidence in leadership, public speaking, and advocacy
- Promote healing through cultural revitalization, storytelling, creativity, and cultural expression
- Provide mentorship through Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Indigenous women leaders
- Encourage self-determination, confidence, and resilience in academic and personal life
- Create a safe, fun, and empowering space for Indigenous women to thrive
