Empower McKinney Presents: Jason Hernandez

Empower McKinney is excited to welcome Jason Hernandez for what promises to be one of our most inspiring conversations yet.

Jason's story is one of extraordinary redemption. As a young man, he made devastating choices that resulted in a life sentence for nonviolent federal drug offenses. After serving approximately 20 years in Pr*son, his sentence was commuted by President Obama. Today, Jason has dedicated his life to serving others as the founder of La Tiendita, a neighborhood market and community resource in East McKinney that provides fresh, affordable food while investing in the people and families around it. His journey is a powerful reminder that accountability, perseverance, and second chances can transform not only a life, but an entire community.

We're especially excited to host this event at the NEW Hugs Cafe headquarters, behind Tupp's Brewery. The Hugs leadership team are big fans of Jason and the impact he's making, making this a fitting place for this conversation. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m., and we encourage everyone to order lunch by noon so we can support our host venue while enjoying time together before the program begins.
