Please join for our first community event of the new school year, in support of our mission to equip Oakland youth with the skills to be leaders and changemakers in their communities through youth-led, youth-driven community service.

This past spring, our Korematsu Discovery Academy youth leaders didn't just talk about neighborhood safety—they marched for it, met with city officials, and proposed real solutions for their community. about their efforts in the Oaklandside.

This event will raise awareness and funds to support our programs and dedicated program instructors like María Pirner, who guides students from idea to action, plus the essential supplies and materials, even our curriculum development, that make these transformative experiences possible.

In a time when our children and youth in Oakland face unprecedented challenges, Upward Roots empowers young people to become the changemakers their communities need—but we can only continue this vital work with supporters like you.

Join us on October 18 to celebrate youth leadership in action and fuel our programs in Oakland that transform youth ideas into community change—whether they're advocating for neighborhood safety improvements like the KDA students or tackling bullying, climate change, racism, gun violence, or other pressing issues, your support ensures young voices lead the way to a better tomorrow.

In addition to great community, they'll be a silent auction, and of course beverages from OP and bites from Citizen Pizza Co. We cannot wait to see you!
