About this Event
Empire of Equality? A Queer-Decolonial History Tour of Berlin
Berlin is known for having a history filled with queer nightlife and liberation during the early 20th century, however the story is much more complicated and darker than on first appearances. During the periods of the German Empire and Weimar Republic, Germany's colonial history, the rise of eugenics and the early gay rights movement all intersected and left LGBTQ+ people and People of Color to grapple with its consequences. In this walking tour, we invite you to learn about this rarely explored side of early queer history.
The tour is given in English.
The tour is free but a donation is encouraged. Suggested dontion: 10€
