Emerging Composers Concert 2026 - New Classical Music in San Diego

Join us for a live concert of new classical and contemporary music celebrating San Diego and Tijuana’s emerging composers. This world-premiere performance features original works by six young composers selected through the 2026 Emerging Composers Commission Competition, presented at the Athenaeum Art Center in San Diego.
Each composer is currently studying at a San Diego or Tijuana academic institution, or is a graduate of a San Diego/Tijuana area high school, and has been commissioned to write an original work premiered at this concert:
• Perla Ontiveros, Universidad Autónoma de Baja California
• Trevor Hamer, San Diego State University
• Alex LeMoigne, University of California San Diego
• Ricardo Rodriguez Quintero, Universidad Autónoma de Baja California
• Nancy Sanchez, Palomar College
• Annabelle Gagnon, Canyon Crest Academy
The new works will be performed by the RAVE Quartet:
• Rachel Allen – trumpet
• Anahita Pestonjamasp – flute
• Jonathan Hayward – bassoon
• Eric Starr – trombone
